The French boutique asset manager claims the fund, Echiquier Space, which invests in space and related technology, is the first of its kind for European investors. . Echiquier Space will be managed by a team helmed by Rolando Grandi, who focuses on AI, robotics and technology for the French fund house.

La Financière de l’Echiquier (LFDE), values investment opportunities in space at $400 billion, which it says will grow to $2.7 trillion in the next 25 years. Moreover, LFDE asserts that ESG is the centre of the fund, with a sustainable space industry being an important part of its investments.

The fund has three investment areas: earth observation; on-orbit manufacturing and assembly; and communications satellites.

ARK Invest filed for a space-focused ETF in March, making LFDE’s effort one of the very first space funds.
