SBZ Pensioen has named Achmea Investment Management as fiduciary manager, replacing BNP Paribas. SBZ changed managers because of the Netherlands’ upcoming transition to a defined contribution (DC) scheme, and Achmea already had experience administering the pension’s DC arrangement.

SBZ Pensioen has named Achmea Investment Management as fiduciary manager due to its experience managing defined contribution (DC) arrangements for the pension. BNP Paribas was formerly the fiduciary manager for the pension.

As the Netherlands is facing transition to a DC system and the details of it are not yet available, SBZ did not release a request for proposal. “Instead we invited all asset managers on our list to give us a presentation on how they deal with DC. This provided us with a wealth of insights. On the basis of the presentations we made a first selection,” says Reiniera van der Feltz, executive trustee at SBZ.
